Job Descriptions
The referee or umpire is the lead official that has control of the game and is generally the final authority in all decisions. It is the role of the referee or umpire to enforce the rules of the sport, including sportsmanship decisions, and to identify and announce all illegal plays, violations, and/or penalties. Referees and umpires are also responsible for keeping track of the play clock and the score.
Basketball: 2 referees per game., where at least 1 referee must be Experienced (Certified preferred). Minimum high school age.
Flag Football: 2 referees per game. Minimum high school age.
Tackle Football: 4 referees per game, where at least 1 referee must be Certified. Minimum high school age.
Volleyball: 1 referee per game. Experience required. Minimum high school age.
Soccer: 1 Center referee per game. Minimum high school age
U6 - Minimum high school age
U8 - Experience required. Minimum high school age
U10 and up - Experience required (Certified preferred)
Baseball: 1-2 umpires per game.
6U - 1 Field ump. Minimum middle school age
8U - 1 Field ump. Minimum high school age.
10U - 1 Home Plate ump. Experience required + 1 Field ump. Minimum high school age
12U - 1 Home Plate ump. Experience required + 1 Field ump. Minimum high school age
13-15 - 1 Home Plate ump. Certified required + 1 Field ump. Experience required. Minimum high school age
Legion - 1 Home plate + 1 Field Ump. Certified required
Softball: 1-2 umpires per game
8U - 1 Field ump. Minimum high school age.
10U - 1 Home Plate ump. Experience required + 1 Field ump. Minimum high school age
12U - 1 Home Plate ump. Experience required + 1 Field ump. Minimum high school age
14U - 1 Home Plate ump. Certified required + 1 Field ump. Experience required.
16U - 1 Home Plate ump. Certified required + 1 Field ump. Experience required
A great job for high school students, with a minimum age of 14 yrs. Responsible for food preparation, selling food and drinks, collecting money and tendering change, cleaning counters and workspace, and stocking supplies and food items. Concession stands are located at the Karl E. Cole Complex and the Outdoor Aquatics Park. These are summer positions that are only available during the months of May through August. Daytime shifts available as well as evenings and weekends.
