Coaching

Oz Rec is always looking for more great people who will volunteer to help coach the youth in our community. We appreciate the time and effort that is put into teaching skills and promoting a team environment.

Expectations & Rules

Coaches should be familiar with, and always abide by, the expectations outline within Oz Rec's Mission Statment and Core Beleifs (as listed on the Home page)

Coaches should also be familiar with the rules of the game for the particular sport and/or division that they are coaching, and ensure that they are teaching and helping the youth to develop the expected skills for that particular age group or level.

The Rec Director will provide coaches with a Team Package at the beginning of each sport season. The packages will contain the team roster, as well as the coaching expectation for that team, including game rules and a list of age-appropriate skill or drills to teach.

Team Rosters & Games Schedules

Oz Rec will provide an electronic or hardcopy version of team rosters and game schedules to each coach. Copies of the game schedules will also be posted under the webpage for each particular sport.

The associated facility calendar will also be updated and posted  (see link below) to show the game times, so that there is no overlap with other team practices or sporting events for those locations.

Oz Rec provides a free texting notification service for alerts about changes in registration, teams, scheduling, facilities, weather, etc. Coaches are expected to sign up for these notifications.

Scheduling Team Practices

The appropriate calendar(s) will be available for review by coaches and players for each sports season (see link below), where practice slots will be created so that coaches will be able to see the availability and sign up according to their preferred schedule. It will be on a first come, first serve basis.

There are two ways that Coaches can sign up for available practices slots:
